How factoring costs are calculated
How much does factoring cost? Look beyond one percentage
A low headline fee does not necessarily mean low total costs. An all-in quote may include funding, credit control and insurance. A separate service fee may exclude interest and other charges. First select the pricing structure in your quote, then calculate all charges on the same basis.
The calculation
Service fee = invoice value × fee percentage. Advance = invoice value × advance percentage. Separate interest = advance × annual rate × payment days / 365. Add separate insurance and per-invoice charges where applicable. Monthly fixed costs and any service-fee minimum top-up are shared across monthly invoices. Monthly costs equal per-invoice costs × invoice count; annual costs assume twelve identical months.
Example: a €20,000 invoice
A 90% advance provides €18,000 gross. At a 1.2% fee, 7% separate annual interest and payment after 45 days, the fee is €240 and interest €155.34. Add €50 separate insurance and €8 invoice charges: €453.34 total, or 2.27% of the invoice. These are fictional example rates, not an available offer.
Average factoring costs: use your own receivables
No universal average can assess your quote. Fixed charges weigh more heavily on smaller invoices; longer payment periods increase separate interest. Recalculate with 30, 60 or 90 days and actual invoice volumes. The resulting percentage is a cost for this invoice cycle, not an effective annual interest rate: it includes services too.
Factoring in Eindhoven and Brainport
Supplying large customers from Eindhoven, Veldhoven or Helmond? Use their actual payment times, not just agreed terms. Run separate calculations for different customer groups. Alongside price, check debtor limits, recourse, pledges, notice periods and disputed invoices. This tool calculates costs; it does not assess invoice eligibility.

Questions about factoring costs
How do I avoid counting interest twice?
Choose all-in when interest and insurance are already included. Add only charges outside that rate. For a separate service fee, use the contractual interest and insurance charges.
What is a minimum service fee?
This calculator treats it as a monthly floor for the percentage service fee. Only the shortfall is added. Your contract may use a different minimum or calculation basis.
Should I include VAT?
Use the contractual basis for fees and advances. This tool assumes a single shared basis. If your contract uses different bases, ask for a separate calculation. VAT on charges is not automatically included.
